Topical antifungal agents. Imidazole and triazole derivatives
Ketoconazole is a synthetic imidazole-dioxolane derivative that has fungicidal and fungistatic activity against dermatophytes such as Trichophyton spp., Epidermophyton spp., Microsporum spp., and yeasts such as Candida spp. and Malassezia furfur (Pityrosporum ovale). The medicine quickly reduces exfoliation and itching that are often associated with dandruff, seborrheic eczema, and tinea versicolor.
Treatment and prevention of skin and hair lesions caused by Malassezia (formerly Pityrosporum) yeasts, such as dandruff, tinea versicolor (local), seborrheic dermatitis.
The medicine is intended for topical use. Apply the shampoo to the affected skin and hair, leave for 3–5 minutes, then rinse with water.
Dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis (seborrheic eczema): use the shampoo 2 times a week for 2–4 weeks.
Tinea versicolor:Use the shampoo once a day for 5 days.
Dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis (seborrheic eczema): use the shampoo once a week for 1–2 weeks.
Tinea versicolor: Use the shampoo once a day for 3 days (single treatment) before the start of the summer season.
There is no experience of using the medicine in children.
