Levofloxacin is a synthetic antibacterial agent from the fluoroquinolone group, the S-enantiomer of the racemic mixture of ofloxacin. As an antibiotic from the fluoroquinolone group, levofloxacin acts on the DNA-DNA gyrase complex and topoisomerase IV.
Inflammatory processes caused by levofloxacin-sensitive bacteria: pneumonia, complicated urinary tract infections (including pyelonephritis), skin and soft tissue infections, chronic bacterial prostatitis.
A sensitivity test must be performed before use.
The solution should be used within 3 hours after perforation of the vial.
The drug is administered intravenously, 1–2 times per day.
The dose depends on the infection type and severity.
