Mefenamic acid-Darnitsa

Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory and anti-rheumatic drugs. Fenamates

Mefenamic acid is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug. The anti-inflammatory action mechanism is due to its ability to inhibit the synthesis of inflammatory mediators (prostaglandins, serotonin, kinins, etc.), reduce the activity of lysosomal enzymes involved in the inflammatory response.

Acute viral respiratory infections and influenza.

Mild and moderate pain: muscular, joint, traumatic, dental, headaches of different aetiology, postoperative and postpartum pain.

Primary dysmenorrhea. Dysfunctional menorrhagia, including that caused by intrauterine contraceptives, in the absence of pelvic organ pathology.

Inflammatory diseases of the musculoskeletal system: rheumatoid arthritis, rheumatism, ankylosing spondylitis.

The medicine should be administered under the supervision of a physician who determines the dose and duration of treatment. For oral administration. The medicine should be taken after meals with milk.

Adults and children aged 12 years and over are prescribed 250–500 mg 3–4 times per day. If indicated and well-tolerated, the daily dose is increased to the maximum of 3000 mg, after the therapeutic effect is reached, the dose is reduced to 1000 mg/day.

For children aged from 5 to 12 years — 250 mg 3–4 times per day.

The treatment course for joint diseases can last from 20 days to 2 months or more. In pain syndrome the course of treatment lasts up to 7 days.
