Validol is a complex substance obtained by dissolution of menthol in isovaleric acid methyl ester. With sublingual use, the drug action results from the effects of menthol and isovaleric acid.

The tablets should be held in the mouth (under the tongue) till complete dissolution.
The single adult dose is 1–2 tablets; daily dose is 2–4 tablets.
