Darnitsa Joins the Fundraiser for Purchasing Lung Ventilators

23 March 2020

Darnitsa Pharmaceutical Company joins the nation-wide fundraiser to purchase 50 lung ventilators for Ukrainian hospitals. The fundraiser started on March 20 on the initiative of the Zagoriy Foundation and the Ukrainian Philanthropic Marketplace.

Darnitsa has allocated funds for purchasing three lung ventilators. Previously the company jointly with the Zagoriy Foundation has already purchased and given three lung ventilators to the Kyiv City Emergency Care Hospital.

Dmytro Shymkiv, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Darnitsa Group:

“The world is gripped by the pandemic which can only be overcome by the joint efforts of the business, government and every Ukrainian. Now such a union is not just important – it will save lives. Darnitsa is involved in helping patients with coronavirus to the fullest extent. Last week, we already handed over three lung ventilators. Today, we join the initiative of the Zagoriy Foundation and the Ukrainian Philanthropic Marketplace and allocate funds to purchase another three devices. We urge representatives of responsible business to join the initiative, because we know from the experience of other countries that it is the lung ventilators that hospitals lack.”

In total, as part of the fundraising campaign, it is planned to raise UAH 49.3 million to purchase 50 such devices manufactured in the USA. During the COVID-19 pandemic, such equipment is indispensable in the treatment of patients with severe complications.

The delivery of lung ventilators may be made at the end of May after the resumption of the air transportation between the US and Europe.
