“Darnitsa” and Zagoriy Foundation became gold sponsors of the benefit evening in support of the Ukrainian Catholic University (UCU)

The annual benefit evening in support of the Ukrainian Catholic University took place on December 4 at the InterContinental Kyiv Hotel. The pharmaceutical company “Darnitsa” and Zagoriy Foundation once again donated UAH 1.5 mln. to UCU in support of its teaching activities and scholarships for professors for the year 2022.

The event was aimed at raising funds to finance additional scholarships as well as research and social programs for the institution. As Dmytro Shymkiv, Chairman of the Executive Board of Darnitsa Group noted that this was not the first year “Darnitsa” has helped UCU to raise the level of financial support, so that the University professors can concentrate on scientific work and the education of young people.

“It has been six years since the pharmaceutical company “Darnitsa” has been helping the Ukrainian Catholic University. The 21st century requires people to be knowledgeable about information technology and actively contribute to the future of the state. Our company believes that investing in education helps in the quality process of educating a new generation of young specialists, developing the intellectual potential of the nation. It is extremely important to give professors and lecturers at UCU the opportunity to teach, educate and inspire future bright leaders of Ukraine”, - said Dmytro Shymkiv. Prior to that, the company provided eight professor and teacher scholarships in the 2020-2021 academic year.

The Ukrainian Catholic University inherited and continues the scientific activities of the Greek Catholic Theological Academy, founded in 1928-1929 in Lviv by Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky. In 2007, UCU received licenses from the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine to train specialists in “History” and “Social Pedagogy”, and in 2015 the accreditation commission of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine decided to award the institution a license to train bachelors in the field of “Computer Science”.
