“Darnitsa” took part in companies’ annual resilience study

08 December 2021

Pharmaceutical company “Darnitsa” took part in the annual organizational resilience study, which is already being conducted by consulting group One Philosophy for the second time. Dmytro Shymkiv, Chairman of the Executive Board of Darnitsa Group, has become one of 54 managers and owners of organizations who shared their thoughts and proven practices that enable them to cope with various challenges.

The study was conducted via in-depth interviews and online surveys of owners and top managers. Their responses were analyzed and combined into a single report, identifying the key trends affecting organizations and businesses in our country at present.

According to the study results, pandemic Covid-19 was a prime influencer in the anticipated impact. On the one hand, it added hassle for managers in the form of the need to organize constant work under quarantine restrictions and to vaccinate the staff, but on the other hand, it provided opportunities for development, which resilient companies took advantage of. They mobilized their teams and began to introduce innovations rapidly.

In particular, “Darnitsa” has actively digitalized work processes, switched to a new business model and launched more than two dozen new products on the market.

“We have switched to a new business model – humanocracy, a flat structure. We have changed many approaches to working with clinical trials, work with many international institutes and plan to make 21 launches this year, entering new markets, – says Dmytro Shymkiv, Chairman of the Executive Board of Darnitsa Group. – Previously, the management system in companies was centralized, each individual segment did not have a complete picture and decisions were made at the top. The higher level, which implies more knowledge, more information and higher decisions, is outdated. Now, in a hyper-connected world, all the links can make their own decisions and, consequently, become autonomous units”.

According to Dmytro Shymkiv, in the environment where people having all the information and authority, are not always ready to make decisions, it is just the move to a flat organization structure will be the biggest challenge for the pharmaceutical industry.

“There are people who ask for more authority, empowerment, and there are those who do not. In our turn, we are making more empowerment for business units to control P&L (income and expenses) on their own. We create organizations within the organization, conditions and incentives to turn employees into entrepreneurs, as if they become business owners. People have to earn with us,”- said Dmytro Shymkiv.

Consulting group One Philosophy established the #Resilience platform in 2020, which became a platform for business owners, managing directors and heads of organizations to find effective strategies and progressive leadership practices that work in Ukraine in the new realities. At the same time, One Philosophy conducted the first resilient survey, made annual.
