Digital Transformation: Experience of the Pharmaceutical Firm Darnitsa

Within the framework of increasing of the business performance, the Pharmaceutical Firm Darnitsa continues the transformation of its own IT infrastructure. A new step of the company on the way to improvement is the migration to Office 365.

In 2018, Pharmaceutical Firm Darnitsa PrJSC studied the opportunities of increasing the digital transformation of its business through the transfer of the local IT systems to the modern cloud platform.

Task

The project of digital transformation and modernization of IT infrastructure was launched in spring 2018 in cooperation with Infopulse, the international software development company. Within the framework of this project Darnitsa set itself a goal to solve a number of the following tasks:

    to migrate local networks and a part of the obsolete IT infrastructure to the modern cloud environment providing for the opportunity of dynamic expansion;
    to improve the functionality and work capacity of the company’s internal systems;
    to set up communication with external clients and wholesale dealers for 250+ internal users.

One of the objectives was to ensure mobility and the possibility of dynamic expansion and more flexible connection of external users regardless of their devices or platform, to set up integration of cloud systems with the company’s own mobile applications and to optimize expenses on technical support.

Implementation

The Pharmaceutical Firm Darnitsa and Infopulse chose Microsoft Office 365 as the main platform for the transformation of the IT infrastructure. Office 365 platform is a cutting-edge cloud SaaS service making it possible to get the most out of the work with e-mail, documents and communication tools. High accessibility and mobility of Microsoft cloud platform improve the efficiency in decision-making, streamline communications between employees in fulfillment of day-to-day tasks and improve business profitability as a whole.

Within the framework of the digital transformation project, Infopulse has built a hybrid environment Exchange and has arranged the integration of the cloud environment with local systems and own applications of the large pharmaceutical company, staying within quite short time limits. The outdated systems have been transferred to a modern, unified cloud platform. At the same time, the peculiarities of the deployment for various types of operating systems and devices were taken into account. The migration of mailboxes of the selected user group was carried out and the integrated communication environment was also set up using Microsoft Teams. Office 365 Pro Plus installation packages were created, and basic policies for remote control of mobile devices were set up. Infopulse has provided full technical support and held comprehensive training for the technical specialists of “Darnitsa”, as well as training for the initiative team of employees of the Pharmaceutical Firm “Darnitsa”, on the use of the modern Office 365 productivity tools.

Result

The project of digital transformation of the IT infrastructure of Darnitsa has made it possible to optimize multiple production processes and has become an important step on the way of the company’s digital evolution. Office 365 cloud platform has helped to significantly improve the business performance and decision-making efficiency, ensure business continuity, improve workforce management, and provide an environment for personal productivity and creativity. All processes of transformation of the IT-infrastructure took place without disturbing business processes – unobtrusively for users. Now, employees of the company have the opportunity to enjoy the advantages of Microsoft cloud-based technologies, such as greater flexibility, security, reliability, access anywhere in the world, unified environment across various types of devices.

The Pharmaceutical Firm Darnitsa continues the introduction of new cloud-based systems and one of the projects developed with the direct support of Microsoft and SAP is the migration of the company’s local SAP systems to Azure cloud environment.
