Darnitsa organized training for psychologists of the hotline 1551

07 July 2022

Pharmaceutical company Darnitsa organized a meeting of psychologists of the Kyiv Contact Centre (short code 1551) with Oleh Sozontovych Chaban, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Medical Psychology, Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy of O.O. Bogomolets National Medical University.

The purpose of the event is to help deal with complex issues of patient support during the acute period of psychological trauma. The webinar took place in the format of a live discussion and analysis of practical cases of calls to the hotline regarding traumatic stress events. PTSD and acute stress disorders during the war in the civilian population is an urgent problem that requires specialists’ attention.

The department of psychological help using the hotline 1551 opened quite recently – from the middle of June – and during this time it has already received about 200 calls.

The Kyiv contact centre and the pharmaceutical company Darnitsa signed a memorandum of cooperation in April this year, as previously reported by the Kyiv City State Administration. The goal is to consolidate efforts to form an accessible and convenient service for prompt reception of citizens’ appeals regarding medicinal products and their availability in pharmacies, as well as other types of cooperation.

The meeting took place within the framework of the Darnitsa educational project on post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The company conducts training for the professional community, and has also launched an online information platform for patients and doctors to raise Ukrainians’ awareness of PTSD.

“Our century is the ‘century of trauma’. Everyone has even forgotten that we had another worldwide collective trauma called the COVID-19 pandemic. After the COVID-19 ‘psycho-infection’, we instantly, without rest, moved into another ‘psycho-infection’ with a great distressing effect, called a large-scale war in Ukraine 2022”, Oleh Sozontovych Chaban emphasized during the meeting.
