Vinpocetine is a substance with a complex mechanism of action; it improves brain metabolism and blood supply as well as rheological properties of blood. Vinpocetine has neuroprotective effects—it attenuates the harmful effects of cytotoxic reactions caused by stimulant amino acids.
Neurology. For treatment of various forms of cerebrovascular pathology (conditions after impaired cerebral circulation (stroke), vertebrobasilar insufficiency, vascular dementia, cerebral atherosclerosis, posttraumatic and hypertensive encephalopathy). The drug promotes a decrease in the mental and neurological symptoms in cerebrovascular pathology.
Ophthalmology. For the treatment of chronic vascular diseases of the choroid and retina.
Otorhinolaryngology. For the treatment of age-related sensorineural hearing loss, Ménière's disease, tinnitus.
The drug is intended to be taken orally after meals.
Vinpocetine-Darnitsa is recommended for use in adults at 5–10 mg (1–2 tablets) thrice daily (15–30 mg daily).
Patients with renal or hepatic impairments do not require special dose adjustment.
The duration of treatment is decided by a physician on an individual basis.
