Darnytsia Told About the Main Trends in the Pharmaceutical Market of Ukraine

05 April 2024

The pharmaceutical company "Darnytsia" told about the main trends observed in the pharmaceutical market of Ukraine at the end of 2023.

In general, the role of the pharmaceutical industry in the economy is growing. In 2023, sales of pharmaceutical products, as well as imports and exports, showed an increase.

Thus, medicines sales in 2023 in Ukraine increased by 25%. Most of the medicines sold are Ukrainian-made, if you count in packages, and if you count in money, then they are imported.

In general, 7 of the 10 largest pharmaceutical companies on the Ukrainian market are Ukrainian.

In 2023, the number of pharmacies increased by 5% compared to 2022. Only in two regions, Cherkasy and Kirovohrad, there are fewer pharmacies than in 2022. Let us remind you that due to a full-scale war, more than 4000 pharmacies were closed in Ukraine.

Last year, Ukrainians bought the most antiinflammatory and antirheumatic products – 9,4 billion UAH. But sales of medicines against nasal cavity diseases increased the most – by almost 38%.

Exports of medicines in 2023 increased by 17% compared to 2022. The main buyers of Ukrainian medicines are Uzbekistan, Lithuania, Kazakhstan, Georgia and Moldova.

As for the import of medicines to Ukraine, in 2023 it increased by 13% compared to 2022. Germany is the largest exporter. India is in second place, and France is in third place.

"The pharmaceutical industry today is a reliable support of the state. After all, Ukrainian pharmaceutical companies not only provide Ukrainians with high-quality medicines, but also fill the country’s budget and finance our Victory.

Thus, Darnytsia last year took the lead in helping the defense forces and provided the most donations for humanitarian needs among pharmaceutical companies. This trend will continue this year. Helping is ours," said Vasyl Hubarets, Corporate Communications Director of the pharmaceutical company "Darnytsia".
