Sodium picosulfate is a laxative of the triarylmethane group, which after metabolism in the large intestine inhibits the absorption of water and thus increases the excretion of water and electrolytes. This leads to softening of the stool consistency and rapid bowel emptying, increasing the volume of bowel movements, as well as stimulating peristalsis.
For short-term use in constipation or conditions that require facilitation of defecation.
Like other laxatives, PICONORM shouldn’t be administered every day or for a long time without determining the cause of constipation.
PICONORM, drops, intended for short-term use.
Patients suffering from chronic constipation should be fully diagnosed to determine the cause of constipation.
Do not take the drug every day or for a long time without determining the cause of constipation. Prolonged or excessive use of the drug can lead to water and electrolyte imbalance and hypokalemia.
Drug treatment is indicated only in cases of insufficient effectiveness of long-term measures to change the diet (food rich in ballast agents and fiber, as well as adequate fluid intake) and lifestyle (for example, following an active motor regime).
